Complete 7-String Guitar Method

This comprehensive method book is best suited to an intermediate
to advanced six string guitarist who is learning the seven string
guitar. Included are sections on scale and arpeggio fingerings as
well as an extensive section on chord voicings. All examples are
presented in both tablature and standard notation, with diagrams
also included where appropriate. The seventh string is tuned to
a low A throughout. The included CD contains play-along tracks with
full rhythm section, single note studies with accompaniment (in

These beginning to advanced jazz guitar
ensembles are written for four and five guitars by some of the best
guitar ensemble arrangers in the business. Arrangers include, Barry
Greene, Dave Frackenpohl, Steve Schenkel, Andrian Ingram, and Chris
Buzzelli. Each writer contributes one composition per volume. Not
only are these are fine performance pieces for ensembles, they are
good material for sight-reading. These graded volumes follow Mel
Bay’s guitar grading system. Each chart in all three levels
offers students the opportunity to improvise with rhythm guitar
and, in some cases, background figures. Each volume contains five
pieces.
Level I presents simple rhythms, is technically easy and all of
the parts are primarily played in first position. These are perfect
for beginning guitar classes and students who are starting to read
standard notation.
Level II increases in difficulty in each
category and explores upper regions of the fretboard; perfect material
for high school level or beginning college ensembles.
Level III contains arrangements that will
challenge many college guitar ensembles. Reading in all positions
and advanced technique is required for each of these pieces. |

Medium tempo blues with some interesting counterpoint. Stop-time figures kick off the solos and a fat shout chorus brings it home. Easy lines for all 5 guitars.
Trentonova by Chris Buzzelli   
Medium bossa with some interesting changes. Soli section has a few tricky spots. 5th guitar plays rhythm throughout.
Unexpected Leisure Time by Chris Buzzelli   
Bop-type head which can be played from medium to fast. Lots of ii-V's for blowing and a challenging soli section. All 5 parts have some lines.
Samba Do, Samba Don't by Chris Buzzelli   
Fast samba. Backgrounds to solos include some nice "pyramid" effects. Soli section has lots of notes but lays well. 5th guitar plays rhythm throughout.
On the Rocks by Chris Buzzelli   
16th note shuffle-funk. Room for two guitar solos, one with a "spacey" feel to it, and the other more of a "rock" solo. Other three parts play funky rhythm.
Mr. Hipp by Chris Buzzelli   
Medium up shuffle blues with a different twist. Contains lines in all 5 guitar parts. Use of a few double stops gives the impression of two guitar sections. Not too difficult.
Blues for Jack by Chris Buzzelli   
This angular blues head is followed by plenty of solo space and an easy shout chorus. Contains lines in all 5 guitar parts. Some use of double stops in shout.

This jazz classic in 5/4 time makes for a nice change of pace. Includes a soli section with lines in all 5 guitar parts.
